The CAE-HKAES Forum on Integrative Development of Innovation and Technology in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta was held on 24 May 2017 in Tamar, Hong Kong. This unique Forum provided a valuable platform for many diverse communities to share perspectives and views on namely: i) Development of innovation & technology in HK; ii) University-industry-government collaboration, and iii) Mainland-Hong Kong collaboration, attracted a full-house of enthusiastic audience.

This piece of policy research study is the first deep collaboration between the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (HKAES). It aims to study the synergistic and integrative development of innovation and technology (I&T) in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta and beyond. Based on in-depth analysis and consultation with leaders across academia, industry and government, the study will offer policy recommendations for developing I&T as an engine for economic growth. This event is the fourth of a series of I&T policy study forums organized by HKAES. At the Forum, HKAES fellows shared their current findings and recommendations of the Policy Study on I&T Development including the LMC River Loop. Followed by the CAE delegation led by Prof GAN Yong, the Former CAE Vice-President and key stakeholders including representatives from Shenzhen also presented their independent findings on Hong Kong I&T.
