HKUST Leadership and Public Policy (LAPP) organized an executive training program titled "Leadership in Policy Development" between 30 January and 2 February 2018. This year, we had 36 participants from various government units attended the program. In fact, it was a 2nd time re-run since the establishment of LAPP. During the 4-day program, nine interconnected, interactive seminars and luncheon talk on different topics on policy development were conducted. Distinguished speakers from HKUST and various renowned institutions, such as National University of Singapore, Tsinghua University and Former Secretary for Transport and Housing, shared with the participants their knowledge and insights on various tasks in policy development, such as identifying policy problems, design policy solutions, and evaluating policy impacts.

Participants revealed that they were deeply benefited from intimate and candid exchange of ideas with the professors as well as the fellow classmates.

"This program highlights the critical factors that facilitate the policy development process," said one participant.

"Good practical examples given in government’s policy development process," said another participant.

"Thanks for all the brilliant presentations and examples. Very inspiring and thought provoking. Highly convincing," another participant remarked.
