WEF Young Global Leaders Education Module:

Our AI-Driven Future: Prospect and Pitfalls

September 18 – 22, 2023

Hong Kong

This exclusive educational module, tailored for Young Global Leaders (YGLs), delves into the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on our world. The aim is to enhance the YGLs' comprehension of the challenges and opportunities arising in this rapidly evolving landscape.

Over a span of five days, the YGLs will embark on a comprehensive exploration of AI's role in the digital economy, its transformative effects on the manufacturing industry, and its contributions to scientific research and biomedical advancements. Additionally, participants will discover how AI-driven art-tech is revolutionizing the creative process. The program encourages YGLs to contemplate the ethical implications of AI's influence on human society and to consider policy-making strategies within the context of an innovation-driven economy, drawing upon examples from Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

The program comprises five sessions, each concentrating on a distinct aspect of AI and led by esteemed faculty members, distinguished scientists, and prominent speakers from both the public and private sectors. Participants will gain hands-on, first-hand experience through interactive discussions, experiential learning, laboratory visits, and trips to multinational technology corporations.

This groundbreaking program represents the first-ever educational module in the Greater China region, developed jointly by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the World Economic Forum within the collaborative framework of the Global University Leaders Forum.
